Assessing sustainability in mining municipalities in the Amazon remains challenging due to limitations related to the availability, standardization, and operationalization of indicators at the territorial scale. In this study, we aimed to select and operationalize sustainability indicators applicable to mining municipalities in the Amazon. A systematic literature review was conducted using the Scopus database and complemented with institutional databases and publicly available datasets. A total of 148 indicators distributed across the environmental, economic, social, governance, and cultural dimensions were initially identified and evaluated using an eligibility matrix based on regional relevance, data availability, comparability, periodicity, methodological clarity, and reproducibility. The selection process resulted in a final set of 47 indicators suitable for comparative analyses at the municipal scale. The highest retention rates were observed in the governance (47.1%) and economic (45.0%) dimensions, reflecting the wider availability of standardized administrative data. In contrast, the environmental dimension showed the lowest retention rate because most indicators relied on modeling approaches or indirect remote sensing data. No indicators were retained in the cultural dimension due to the limited availability of standardized information and the predominance of qualitative attributes associated with the socio-territorial diversity of the Amazon. The final set comprises mainly indicators derived from administrative databases, geospatial information, and environmental monitoring systems with predominantly annual updates. The proposed framework provides an operational basis for comparative sustainability assessments and supports territorial management in mining municipalities across the Amazon
