Resumo

Os rios são locais de fundamental importância para o estabelecimento das pessoas na cidade. Este recurso vem sendo explorado e degradado ao longo dos anos devido aos maus usos. Muitas cidades ao redor do mundo vêm implantando projetos de revitalização para tentar salvaguardar os cursos de água, principalmente aqueles localizados dentro das cidades. A governança surge como um processo importante para o sucesso destes projetos. É necessário a inclusão de novos atores sociais no processo decisório, para que as responsabilidades sejam distribuídas e com isso a sociedade civil possa se sentir parte integrante. Este artigo releva um aporte teórico dos cenários de como as pesquisas acerca da governança e sua relação com os rios urbanos vem se desenvolvendo ao longo do tempo, informando assim como a temática está sendo abordada nas pesquisas realizadas ao redor do mundo e trazendo algumas especificidades.
